Established in January 1943 by the members of the Society of Jesus, a Roman Catholic Religious Order commonly called the ‘Jesuits’, Campion School stands as one of India’s premier ICSE boys’ schools. Nestled in the heart of Mumbai, the school endeavours to create better citizens for tomorrow who are anchored in strong values.
Having commenced its journey with just 23 children, the end of the school’s year of inception witnessed 70 boys on the rolls. Campion School shifted its quarters to its originally intended premises at Wellesley House in January 1948. In 1956, Campion attained the stature of a full-fledged High School with 382 children, recognized both by the University of Cambridge as an A – CERTIFICATE SCHOOL, and by the SSC Board, Pune.
About The Principal
Fr. Dr. Francis Swamy S.J.’s vast knowledge, wide experience, hard work, expertise and innovations have made a tremendous impact on human development in the fields of academic and structural changes. He plays an active role in organizing extracurricular activities and his efforts to promote scholars to achieve merits during the board exams and encourage weak students are praiseworthy. His devotion and kind approach towards effective learning and sincere efforts to defend human values among students are well-known and very well presented through his everyday
teaching. He has an all-round personality that can be gauged through his
active participation in all activities in various cultural programmes, extra school curricular activities, sports, and holding guidance lectures in Mumbai and Maharashtra for students appearing for the board exams. Teaching Methodology
The course of the school extends from the Preparatory Class to Class 10. It is
designed to prepare students for the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education
Examination, conducted by the Council for the I.S.C. Examination, New Delhi.
After a ten-year course, students are required to take up subjects as laid down by
The Council for the I.C.S.E. Examination. Candidates are declared successful if they
reach a prescribed minimum aggregate of marks in the compulsory subjects and
attain at least the pass standard in five subjects #educationtoday which must include the English
subject, and also pass in Socially Useful and Productive Work and Community
Service.
Hindi is taught from Class 1. Marathi, the regional language of the State is
compulsory from Class 1 to Class 8. Art, Craft, Music, Physical Training, outdoor
games, yoga and activities are mandatory for all students.
Campus Infrastructure
The school serves as a familiar landmark with its iconic red window sills and
coloured pillars set against a white backdrop. Campion School has two buildings –
Wellesley House and Arthur House.
In order to facilitate learning effectively, the school offers a well-resourced
Library, an Audio Visual Room, Multi- purpose Hall, Art Room, Demonstration
Room, Computer Lab, and separate laboratories for Physics, Chemistry and
Biology, a Playground, Robotics Lab, Counselling cell, Music and Dance rooms,
Auditorium, Sport Room for Carom , PT room, Infirmary, Yoga Room, and a lot
more.
Sports Co-curricular Education
In its belief about the freedom of read more expression being the key to a democratic society, Campion School constantly encourages its students to express themselves and participate in external and in-house competitions.
